“New forms of Hospitality: home or hotel?” at Lualdi showroom Milano

12/05/2022

Seventh episode of "Winter Games Hospitality & Development" series of meetings dedicated to hospitality in view of the XXV WINTER OLYMPICS in Italy

After the great success of the event in Cortina on 18 March, "Winter Games Hospitality & Development" project, a series of events conceived in 2020 by MC International between architecture firms, developers, hotels and design companies, is back in Milan on 12 May 2022 with a new talk entitled: “New forms of Hospitality: home or hotel?”.

This seventh appointment dealt in particular with the relationship between home and hotel to investigate how the domestic space has influenced the hotel in its various forms: the new hospitality formats that arise from this contamination show how hospitality has now become "hybrid" and more and more contaminated with the different types of hospitality.

As usual, the debate aimed to bring together around a round table a city architect, one specialized in the design of mountain hotels and resorts, and a special guest representative of the theme at the center of each meeting, to take a look at the new perspectives and trends of the hospitality on the Milan-Cortina axis and, more generally, in our country.

The protagonists who confronted each other in this talk were exceptionally three, as well as the urban realities of the projects brought as example by the architects Alessia Garibaldi from her Milanese Garibaldi Architects studio, Massimo Iosa Ghini, from Iosa Ghini Associati of Milan and Bologna, and, directly from Cortina d'Ampezzo, Valentina Bernardi from Bernardi Architects studio.

To moderate the debate, Francesco Scullica, full professor at the Design Department of Politecnico di Milano as well as an author and researcher with particular attention to hospitality, while Paolo Righetti, founder of Upper West Architects design studio and professor of Product and Emotional Design at Università Cattolica di Milano, was the special guest of the evening to give a general and emotional point of view on the subject.

The event, held both in presence (by invitation) and in live streaming, was hosted in the Milanese showroom of Lualdi, a historic company of Italian design in the field of interior doors, bespoke furniture and contract, managed by the fourth family generation.

The entire Winter Games project, which started in 2021 with the support of the Municipality of Milan and the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo, has meanwhile also obtained the patronage of: Ordine Architetti P.P.C. della Provincia di Milano, Ordine degli Architetti P.P.C. di Belluno, Fondazione Architettura Belluno Dolomiti, POLIdesign, and is created in partnership with Guest Magazine, FIABCI Italia - International Real Estate Federation, AREL | Real estate Ladies Association, and NEWH Milan | The Hospitality Industry Network.
