"Hospitality Design for Major Sporting Events" at the Catella Foundation in Milan
Third appointment of the series of meetings "Winter Games Hospitality & Development" dedicated to hospitality in view of the XXV WINTER OLYMPICS in Italy
On Thursday 18 November 2021, the third event of the "Winter Games Hospitality & Development" cycle was held at Riccardo Catella Foundation in Milan, focused on the theme "Hospitality Design for Major Sporting Events" and broadcasted in live streaming, with the partnership of Finstral, a company based in South Tyrol among the main manufacturers of windows, doors and verandas in Europe.
The project is curated by Marisa Corso, head of event division of the Contract Network publishing house, promoter of the initiative, as well as CEO of MC International, and carried out in partnership with the international association NEWH - The Hospitality Industry Network and with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan and the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo.
This third talk focused on the design and construction of accommodation facilities and infrastructures in anticipation of the next major sporting events in Italy, in particular for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, seen as an opportunity to restart and relaunch for the city and mountain in a strategic key, also in consideration of the important role reserved for the future use of the structures built for the event once the races are over.
The outstanding architectural firms such as CRA-CARLO RATTI ASSOCIATI of Turin, ITALO ROTA of the homonymous studio in Milan and STUDIO_GELLNER of Cortina d'Ampezzo, told about their design vision in the hospitality sector intended mainly for sport, Olympic and not only for the cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Special guest of the evening, Alida Catella, Milanese architect and CEO of COIMA IMAGE, a Coima Group company involved in the redevelopment project of the former Porta Romana railway station in Milan as promoter and manager of the Porta Romana real estate investment fund, signed together with Covivio and Prada Holding.
Surprisingly among the large audience in the hall, architect Gabriele Pascolini of SOM - Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, an American engineering, architecture and urban planning studio, winner of the international competition for the design of the Olympic Village which in 2026 will host the athletes of Milan-Cortina Winter Games at the Scalo Romana, the athletes of the Milan-Cortina Winter Games.
Moderator of the event was arch. Francesco Scullica, Full Professor of the Design Department of the Politecnico di Milano, who had already inaugurated the series with the first event in attendance last September at Cappellini Point.
